I dreamt of the future
Back on topic: With the lockdown coming up to an end, I was thinking to cover hyper-reality. To put it in a nutshell, immersive technologies create or extend reality. And this is done by immersing the user in a digital environment having applications in different domains. This technology is gaining momentum with every passing day and hour, transforming and helping us reimagine the future.
Seamless technologies
I read a quote recently that said
Twitter is where strangers told the truth. And Facebook is where friends liked each other which I think's very very true. There are certain tricks we can use on Facebook to get more likes and more comments and this increases our status. If you have more friends on Facebook you feel like yeah look at all these friends, aren't I? People will notice this.
What if we found a just middle between Memoji and virtual reality?
AR is giving brands the power to provide its customers with unique experiences that can prove to be the difference between purchase and dropout. What if we would rethink retail as a whole? What if there were one e-commerce for all? A sort of Amazon for everything? But I mean one and only one! That would end competition to the max and increase creativity by 10 times!
The combination of AI with AR and mixed reality can provide an extensive application in biotechnology furthermore it will enable interaction of the digital with the physical environment in a multi-dimensional way that will help prevent manage and cure millions of people.
iPhone gave us the proof of bigger, better. But what if we rethought the way we see mobile phones? What about a finger phone? And what if we could rethink architecture as a whole?
Cloud city
According to TheFamily, Cloud City is a utopia that we can turn into a reality if we build it together! Let's start by defining our common values ββand aspirations. A concept of βcommunityβ is inclusive, anti-racist, and tolerant. I am one of these people that believe in cloud cities. They concern 4 main action points:
Build a community in the Cloud: Cryptocurrencies and virtual reality are two platforms with which it will be possible to create alternative and sovereign digital communities.
Organize the economy around remote work: Thanks to the Cloud, we can already work physically from anywhere, our income can also come from any country.
Enforce laws through smart contracts
Simulate architecture in VR
βThere are many, many exciting and important things that we could do, but that we are not doing because they are illegal or not allowed by regulations. As technologists, sociologists, we should have appropriate places, communities, where we can try new things and understand their effects on society and people without having to deploy them in the normal world. People who like this stuff could go out there and experiment β. Larry Page, former CEO of Google
Upload your consciousness into the cloud
We can't start this topic if we didn't highlight the role of VR in gaming in the movie Ready Player One by Steven Spielberg. The film is set in the year 2045 when the world is on the brink of chaos and collapse (like ours) but humans have salvation in a virtual reality universe where they could make the impossible possible. In other words, Vegas for adults or Disneyland for kids (AKA Westworld)
Facebook is coming up with a new idea called Facebook Horizon which is an ever-expanding community where you can explore, play, and create.
What happens when you die? Is there an afterlife? Amazonβs Upload showed us one version of futuristic heaven and it was cool enough to imagine yourself get uploaded anywhere in the cloud.
Are we ready to go 100% online? No, we are getting there though. Every day, new ideas are born into the dream of controlling the biggest data set, conquer space, or fight for a Cancer cure. The world around us is evolving into being a wonderful heaven.
To sum up, we are on the way to building the bridge to greener and more innovative tech. Are we ready to build the cities of tomorrow? We technically can be but the question should be: do we really want to? And at what cost? Are we ready to give up our soul to the Cloud? Are we ready to live 100% online?
Some people disagree. I am one of them. Are you?
