Unstable markets cause food loss long before it arrives in a grocery store
While overbuying & the difficulty of turning new consumer awareness into action
Poor planning
Confusion over labels
Safety contributes to food waste at stores and in homes

Lab-grown food will soon destroy farming and save the planet said George Monbiot. Scientists are replacing crops and livestock with food made from microbes and water. It may save humanityβs bacon. Food production is ripping the living world apart. Fishing and farming are, by a long way, theΒ greatest cause of extinctionΒ and loss of the diversity and abundance of wildlife. Farming is a major cause of climate breakdown, the biggest cause ofΒ river pollution,Β and a hefty source ofΒ air pollution.Β But just as hope appeared to be evaporating, the new technologies I call farm free food to create astonishing possibilities to save both people and the planet. Farm free food will allow us to hand back vast areas of land and sea to nature, permittingΒ rewildingΒ andΒ carbon drawdownΒ on a massive scale. It means an end to the exploitation of animals, an end to most deforestation, a massive reduction in the use of pesticides and fertilizer, the end of trawlers and longliners.Β

We can cite Aeye-Go, a Chinese startup, which has developed a visual recognition tool for the content of meal trays in the canteen and a self-service checkout system. A solution in which the Sodexo group has invested and intends to deploy in its restaurants.
Second-generation food tech is ghost kitchens in virtual restaurants. These include the Dark Kitchen. So what is the principle behind these ghost restaurants? Well, simply put, you order great food from a kitchen that only serves food for delivery. Cool yeah?
