For the 120 new subscribers of 📊 TWR,
LIVING ONLINE is a telenovela of my life during the lockdown.
This second wave has forced us to adapt and create collective intelligence, particularly agility, thanks to the virtual try-on. So put on your Googly eyes 🕵🏻♂️ and join me for this new episode of Living Online: I bought online and spent way too much. Yes, it's true; I recently discovered the benefits of buying pretty much everything online, which forever changed my life. I will probably never go out and buy something from my thirst store, and you should do the same. Think about it, between 2 work emails, you can browse for your favorite shirt, find the size YOU need, and the color you crave to wear and deliver it straight to your doorstep. Am I right?
E-commerce, an explosive pleasure 🤯
E-commerce is having a moment right now, specifically between waves of lockdown and curfews. More businesses are turning to online selling, and that's only the start. With Amazon positioning as the leader but new actors are too.
Facebook launched its marketplace.
With smarter operational SaaS, you can manage your product shipments even better. I thank Sendcloud for this.
Swell offers a powerful ‘headless’ e-commerce platform for modern brands, startups, and agencies.
Shopify stock has skyrocketed since the e-commerce giant went public 5 years ago. If you want to learn more, this is it.
During the 1st wave, I created 4 marketplaces in seconds with Sharetribe and Webflow. I guess that you don't need any coding skills to do so, and that's boiler!
Cooking at home is not the only solution to staying at home day and night. Naturally, Deliveroo and Uber Eat become your best friend.
Naturally, when you are staying at home, you need to exercise. Then, training often means buying a mattress and a comfy sweatpant to show your followers how online sports are like. So activewear is another category that skyrocketed during the lockdown.
During the 1st wave, I discovered Carrefour online. It's easy, fast, and probably the best experience ever. You don't need to run through piles of food to find what you need, make a considerable queue to pay, and neither meet anyone from your neighbors.
I love the jewelry industry, so seeing major auction houses shifting to an online bedding system is a game-changer!
Thanks to blockchain, all your purchase history is traceable, and that's cool enough for new consumers seeking social proof and sustainable products.
Another product that made the top of my Feedly feed was wearable tech. Yes. Buying a connected watch or a smart TV is becoming a cool thing to have. The fashion industry is then adapting to this trend change.
Unfortunately, the only bad behavior you may encounter with the online shopping wave is buying a little bit too many products at once. Add to chart is satisfying for the fact that you get what you need in seconds, but it's a little bit less pleasing when you look at your bank statement of March-April-May 2020...
Online gaming 🎮
With the boom of more powerful PCs and stand-on graphics, the game industry is a booming industry for the last decade.
We've already seen Nintendo switching into the online Mario purchase industry. I personally bought the new Switch just before the 1st wave, probably my (girlfriend and I) best purchase of 2020. I also played with my friends, and that was cool enough to schedule a weekly game night.
Amazon launched its own gaming platform. I tested it, and it's probably the most powerful out there.
Facebook was offering interactive games on its platform, but I guess it's premature to say if they will attract as many users as their competitors.
Apple switched to a SaaS model, offering games on all your devices. That's new and finally, cool again!
Arkadium is here to entertain many Candy Crush fans like me.
Now, more than ever, Poker is expanding, especially with the boom of virtual avatars.
To sum up, this newsletter, don't spend too much online; spend just enough to keep you going with the 2nd wave.
